Ateno Reinforces Production with Further Investments

Ateno’s latest investments include a 30-kilowatt fiber laser – the first of its kind in Finland – and a portal welding station with a maximum workpiece capacity of 5,000 kg. Continuous investments in high-performance machinery and decades of experience have secured the Evijärvi-based company’s position as a trusted, competitive supplier in the mechanical engineering industry.

New fiber and tube lasers have steadily made their way into Ateno’s production. A modern, 30-kilowatt fiber laser was commissioned a few months ago. The new fiber laser is the first of its kind in Finland.

“The manufacturer delivered its first 30-kilowatt laser to France and the second one to our factory in Finland. Through its efficiency, the machine represents the pinnacle of market-leading technology”, explains Kari Koivisto, Ateno’s Production Leader.

Technological Advancements Require Continuous Investments

Ateno continuously invests in machinery, especially in cutting technology. Today, the 18,500-square-meter factory has nine fiber lasers and four tube lasers. Koivisto highlights that making the right investments has played a crucial role in the company’s growth:

“Our first laser cutting machine had a power of 5 kilowatts, but today, our production features machines with a power of 30 kilowatts. Laser cutting technology is advancing rapidly, which makes continuous investments essential. From the very beginning, we have relied on strong brands that maintain their competitiveness and efficiency throughout their lifecycle.”

Ateno’s selection of tube lasers now covers four different size categories. The company offers competitive cutting services ranging from small furniture tubes to heavy structural beams used in the construction industry, where the cut pipes can reach lengths of up to 15 meters.

“All our machines are equipped with bevel-cutting heads, and the latest models also feature the ability to create threads during the cutting process, which makes the final product highly competitive”, Koivisto adds.

Ateno’s laser cutting services are completed with plasma and oxygen cutting, as well as water jet cutting, where the company specializes in handling large workpieces. Ateno’s extensive range of press brakes – including a 1,200-ton, 8-meter-long press brake – ensures that all cut parts can also be bent according to customer needs.

Latest Welding Robot Investment: Portal Welding Station

In welding, Ateno and Ratesteel currently operate 11 customized robot welding stations optimized for various production series, with a payload capacity of up to 5,000 kilograms.

“The latest addition to our welding robots is a portal welding station, installed in the spring. It features a welding track of approximately 9 meters and a maximum load capacity of 5,000 kg”, Koivisto details. “The robot is also equipped with a robust L-table, allowing welded workpieces of up to 2,500 kg.”

Versatility Became Ateno’s Strength Over 25 Years

Over the past 25 years, Ateno has significantly expanded its services to meet the growing demand from large, international clients. The company has maintained a comprehensive, versatile service selection to ensure flexibility and security even in challenging times.

“Our versatility has been a key driver of our growth over the years. We started with water jet cutting, but today, we also manufacture fully finished products. While we are a strong system supplier, we continue to provide competitive subcontracting services in cutting, bending, and machining,” Koivisto concludes.
