When cutting, drilling, beveling and even threading can all be done on a single machine, both time and material are saved. This is exactly what Ateno’s latest laser tube cutting machine – capable of handling 12-meter blanks – is designed for. The machine has already been running at full capacity for over a year.
Ateno has now been operating Finland’s first 12-meter tube laser from Trumpf for over a year. The investment has significantly shortened production lead times and reduced the number of work stages.
“Tubes of various sizes are perfectly suited for this machine. For example, three four-meter components can be completed in one go without sawing or material waste. This means faster lead times and, overall, a more cost-efficient production solution for the customer as well”, says Peitsa Kauppinen, who is responsible for tubes and profiles at Ateno.
Versatility Across Multiple Industries
Cutting, drilling, beveling and even threading can all be performed within the same process without moving parts between machines. From the customer’s perspective, the key benefit lies in the overall efficiency: components are produced in one go with high precision and are ready for assembly without additional processing. This ensures consistent quality, even in large production batches.
“When all work stages are carried out on a single machine, we avoid unnecessary transfers and re-clamping. This reduces the risk of errors and speeds up the entire production process, enabling us to offer competitive solutions in laser cutting”, Kauppinen explains.
The range of applications for the machine is as broad as Ateno’s customer base.
“We manufacture components for a wide range of industries, including machine builders and the construction sector. For us, the machine’s versatility means that we can efficiently serve different customers using one and the same machine”, Kauppinen says.
The machine has been in heavy use from the very beginning, as the investment was made at exactly the right time – during a peak in production demand.
“The timing of the investment could not have been better”, Kauppinen concludes.
